Join New Earth Creator for a community cleanup in Palm Springs on September 4, 2026, from 7:00 AM–11:00 AM at 100–120 District Center Drive.
This Community Month event brings neighbors and local environmental stewards together to remove litter and illegal dumping, improve the surrounding landscape, and help protect the desert environment we all share.
The cleanup is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Palm Springs and co-hosted with community leader Mike Damal of Pick It Up Palm Springs.
Gloves, bags, and hydration will be provided. Come ready to get outside, make a difference, and help keep Palm Springs clean.

Mission Creek Watershed Cleanup

Join us for one of the largest volunteer environmental restoration events in the Coachella Valley. As part of the 1st Annual Coachella Valley Community Cleanup Month, New Earth Creator is bringing together residents, nonprofits, businesses, and public agencies to restore a critical section of the Mission Creek Watershed.
This cleanup focuses on an illegal dumping hotspot located between Mission Creek and Big Morongo Wash—an area where stormwater can transport trash, chemicals, and debris into the Mission Creek Groundwater Subbasin, an essential source of drinking water for communities across the Coachella Valley.
Why This Cleanup Matters
The Mission Creek watershed begins in the Little San Bernardino Mountains, where seasonal rainfall flows through washes and into our groundwater recharge system. By removing pollution before the next storm, volunteers help protect drinking water, preserve wildlife habitat, reduce environmental contamination, and restore one of the desert’s most important natural landscapes.
What We’ll Be Removing
- Tires
- Household trash and plastics
- Appliances and scrap metal
- Construction debris
- Abandoned items
- Hazardous materials that can be safely collected and properly managed
What to Expect
- Volunteer check-in and safety orientation
- Gloves, trash bags, and cleanup tools provided
- Water and hydration available throughout the event
- Hands-on environmental stewardship alongside community organizations and local leaders
- A meaningful opportunity to protect the Coachella Valley’s watershed for future generations
Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, sun protection, and bring a reusable water bottle. Volunteers are welcome to participate for the full day or any portion of the event.
This watershed restoration effort is made possible through the collaboration of New Earth Creator, Kiwanis Club of Palm Springs, BGB Environmental Services, Riverside County Watershed Protection, Riverside County Department of Waste Resources, and many dedicated community partners, sponsors, and volunteers.
Together, we’re demonstrating what can be accomplished when an entire community unites around a shared purpose: protecting the land, safeguarding our water, and leaving a healthier desert for future generations.
