Community cleanup

Verbena and park lane community cleanup

Desert Guardians Community Cleanup – Verbena & Park Lane

Date: May 30, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Verbena Drive & Park Lane, Desert Hot Springs, CA

Join New Earth Creator and the Desert Guardians for a community cleanup in a neglected desert corridor located between Desert Springs Middle School, the Mission Springs Water District Horton Wastewater Facility, Mission Springs Park, and surrounding residential communities.

This area serves as a connection point between schools, public infrastructure, recreation areas, and neighborhoods. Unfortunately, it has also become a target for illegal dumping. Tires, household waste, construction debris, and other pollutants accumulate here, creating environmental hazards and diminishing the quality of life for nearby residents.

When places like this are overlooked, illegal dumping tends to grow. Community action is often the first and most effective line of defense.

Our goal is simple: remove waste, restore pride in the area, and demonstrate that the community cares about the condition of the land surrounding its schools, parks, and neighborhoods.

Why This Cleanup Matters

  • Protects local wildlife and habitat.
  • Reduces fire hazards and environmental contamination.
  • Improves the appearance and safety of the area surrounding community spaces.
  • Prevents waste from being dispersed further by wind and stormwater.
  • Builds community stewardship and local pride.

What to Bring

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Gloves (if available)
  • Sun protection
  • Water bottle (additional refreshments provided)

Provided

  • Water and refreshments
  • Fruit and snacks
